Excursion Description

The trek starts from an altitude of 1150 m a.s.l. (Case Pietracannone), after meeting in Milo. Together with the volcanological guides, you will progressively approach the lava front inside Valle del Bove.

The lateral eruption of Etna began on January 1, 2026, in Valle del Bove. The front of the lava flow, continuously advancing, is around an altitude of ~1380 m a.s.l.

The route involves about 4 km (one way) towards the advancing front. The excursion includes a stop near the flowing lava, always maintaining minimum safety standards related to volcanological activity and winter conditions.

After appreciating the volcanic activity, we will recover the return path towards the starting point, continuing to admire the landscape on which the flow is settling: Valle del Bove, its ridges, and the adventitious cones inside will be the backdrop of the walk throughout the route.
